Group G: Seattle’s Amazon Problem

Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing, three of the largest technology companies in the world, all call Seattle their headquarters. Tech companies inherently have more men than women, and Seattle has in fact one of the highest gender imbalances in the US.

Only SF and the neighboring Bellevue’s gender imbalances trumped Seattle in 2010. Seattle is definitely not the greatest place for a single man.

Amazon’s Seattle workforce has increased rapidly over the past few years, with its number in employees from 5,000 to 20,000 since 2010. Approximately, 75 percent of the employees are male which definitely contribute to the gender imbalance in the city. Thus, making dating a more difficult thing.

It is becoming increasingly harder for men to stand out and find single women. On the flipside, all the women think the men in tech industry are boring and the same, even though their physical appearance is attractive and their income is pretty high.
